The
Temple Memorial Garden
St.
Thomas' Episcopal Church
The Temple Memorial Garden was established in 1988 as
a gift in memory of Lisabeth Temple by Dr. James Temple, her
husband. In 2006 the garden was re-furbished, the beds were
replanted with fresh stock, and lights and a fountain were
installed. An area is provided for quiet reflection, reading a
book, or gathering a small group of children for a story. The
garden is also used at the conclusion of worship on All Souls Day,
November 2, when the congregation gathers with lighted candles to
pray for those who have died. In this way, the garden has become a
place where life and death are honored together.
